Hand lettering challenge

If you have read my post on revisiting a piece of you, (I’m sure you have). I wrote about revisiting your past and the things that you have forgotten about. Things that you may have started but did not complete or things that you never got started. Well my thing that I’ve always wanted to do was calligraphy or the new thing now hand lettering. I have always been fascinated with letters and the shapes what you can create with them. However I got  as far as buying one issue of a series of fortnightly magazine and I never even got started.

Now some might say that I could not have been that interested if I never really got started. Now it can be hard to argue with someone who makes that kind of statement especially when very little has been done to prove otherwise. My theory is if it is on your mind constantly or every so often you think about it. (year in year out) It means you are still interested and all you have done is allowed life to distract you from your passion. Perhaps because it is not a money-making task or your life is busy and you feel guilty having a little something just for you.

You deserve to have something for you. No one has the right to take that away from you and you do not have the right to take it away from you. So release your doubts, fears and guilt and start-up the passion that you left behind.

I actually started my challenge on 03.08.16. The need to do hand lettering kept coming back to me especially being a card maker, I couldn’t help thinking that if I did it way back some 10 plus years ago and kept it up I would’ve had it down. But I can not dwell on the pass. Now is the time for me to get on with it. I’m using my note-book I bought from Wilko’s. You can check out my Wilko haul here. I will be practicing every single day for about an hour. Taking a style and just repeating it. I have bought some brush pens which I am still waiting on.  I’m also going to do other things that accompany hand lettering like doodles, frames and embellishing the letters.

Watching instagram and YouTube videos have really motivated me and I can not wait to see the results after a month.

REMEMBER: Do not let life get in the way of the things that you like to do.
