There comes a time, years on from where you were till now, when at no time a warning was given to you and your mind starts to reflect onto what use to get you excited. A memory, a feeling, a thought or an idea that was turned into actions untaken. Lost in the fabric of life.
We have all had them. Hobbies that sparked an interest or skills that you wanted to learn to further your self-development or career. I for one have been swept up into the spiral of once thought but never started. Almost lost in the never-ending to do list. One of my favourite passions is calligraphy. I always found it interesting, and being an artist and card maker at nithria.co.uk this will certainly add to my worth and skill set.
Alas it ended before it began and I can honestly say I have no idea why. Probably fear of never achieving perfection (which is one of my many flaws) So I stopped myself from being disappointed in myself once again. At one point, it became like a forgotten love.
Because it always starts with a day, well that day found me and I found myself looking at my fountain pens and inks. All I could see in front of me was calligraphy. Calligraphy. The word itself looks so inviting and the sound of the word says it all. I began to look at calligrapher’s on Instagram and found countless accounts of people who were actively using it. I knew it was time to take action.
So my research has begun and materials are being gathered. Time will be set aside and a new skill will be developed.
It is so important to revisit forgotten hobbies, especially when they keep coming back to you. We miss out on so much on what we want to do due to excuses and allowing life to control us.
So if you have a lost passion, or hobby, get it back and start it. Your future self-will thank you for it.
